How do I get Amazon ads on my Hub?

HubPages doesn't automatically place Amazon ads on Hubs in the same way that Google ads are placed on Hubs.

I often get emails from new Hubbers who have just signed up with Amazon Associates, asking how they can get Amazon widgets, banners, links or an Amazon astore on their Hubs. Well, the short answer is that you can't.

To earn revenue from Amazon, you have to place Amazon capsules on your Hubs. You have to select what kind of Amazon products are displayed in your Amazon capsules. For example, an Amazon capsule is shown on the right, with a light blue background. There are two ways of selecting products to display -- you can either enter a keyword and let Amazon select the products, or you can select each product individually. The capsule on the right was created by entering the keyword "Amazon".

Step 1: Create a new Hub, or click the 'edit' button to the left of one of your existing Hubs.

Step 2: Click 'Amazon' under 'Add More Capsules' on the right hand side.

Step 3: You will see a green message at the bottom of the screen that says "Added Capsule Below." Scroll down until you see the capsule and then click on the blue edit button on the Amazon capsule.  You will see this:

Step 4: Enter a capsule subtitle. This is not required. In my example above, I entered 'my Amazon capsule' as the subtitle.

Step 5: Click either 'Choose keywords' or 'Choose specific products.' If you choose your own keywords, then you can also select a Product Area, like Books or Apparel.

If you selected 'Choose specific products' then you need to open a new window and navigate to Amazon.com. Say you want to add the mass market paperback version of The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. Then, you would find the book on Amazon, which is here. You can either enter this url into the capsule or you can add the ISBN number. To find the ISBN number, scroll down until you see Product Details:

Enter the number that is shown after ISBN-10 (highlighted in blue). Repeat the process for each item that you want to appear in the capsule. You can select up to 10 items. You can also add your own description of each item, if you wish.

Step 6: Click Preview Amazon results to see what your capsule will look like.  If you are happy with it, click the blue save button at the top of the capsule.
